Casting Crowns

Casting Crowns began as a student worship band in Daytona Beach, Fla. in 1999. After two years of serving at First Baptist, Daytona Beach, God called Youth Minister Mark Hall (lead vocal), Juan DeVevo (guitar and vocals), Melodee DeVevo (vocals and violin), Hector Cervantes (guitar and vocals) and Darren Hughes (production manager) to Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, Ga. in October of 2001. After arriving there, the Lord led Chris Huffman (bass guitar), a former student from FBC, Daytona and Megan Garrett (keyboard, vocals, accordion) to join the band. Then about a year later, Andy Williams (drummer), joined the group.

Mark Hall's passion for reaching youth for Christ is what led him to write and perform music. He never imagined that his music ministry would extend beyond his local church.

Today, Casting Crowns is a well-known Christian band with many achievements. In 2005, Casting Crowns received 13 nominations and 7 wins at the GMA Music Awards. Their wins include Song of the Year for "Who Am I," Group of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year (Mark Hall). They also received the award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album at the 2006 Grammies for their album Lifesong.
